The Defense Business Unit (DBU) is the dedicated group inside IPS Assembly that serves U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency and prime-contractor customers. Established in 2023 alongside our CAGE Code registration, the DBU brings federal contracting knowledge and manufacturing under one roof: it quotes DLA / DIBBS solicitations, manages contract requirements and packaging, inspection and documentation compliance, and coordinates first articles and deliveries with the production floor.
For a government buyer or prime contractor, that means one point of contact who understands both the solicitation and the shop floor — from reading a Technical Data Package and MIL-STD-129 marking requirements to scheduling the build, inspection and shipment. The DBU is supported by the same ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality system, IPC-certified workforce and 3D inspection equipment used across all IPS production.
Contact the DBU directly at info@ipsassembly.com or (734) 391-0080, or send a solicitation or drawing package for quote.
Our defense work spans circuit card assemblies, sensor and pigtail harnesses, special-purpose electrical cable assemblies, power distribution wiring and enclosed electronic units for ground vehicle, communications and support equipment programs. Every job runs under the same controlled process we use for automotive customers: documented work instructions, in-process and final inspection, and a quality record that travels with the shipment.
We are experienced with Technical Data Packages, government-furnished drawings, revision control, and the paperwork that comes with federal work — certificates of conformance, first article reports, material certs and packaging to MIL-STD-129 with ASTM D3951 protection.
IPS Assembly is ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certified and holds ITAR registration and Enhanced JCP certification for access to export-controlled technical data. Workmanship is performed and inspected to IPC-A-610 (boards) and IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cables and harnesses) by IPC-certified trainers and application specialists. Inspection tools include 3D solder paste inspection, 3D automated optical inspection and X-ray for hidden solder joints such as BGAs.
Controlled technical data is handled under documented cybersecurity practices aligned to NIST guidance; our team includes ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity staff.
